In order to obtain a residence permit, certain nationalities must be prepared to undergo a tuberculosis (TB) test and – if necessary -treatment. If you submitted the completed “Declaration of intent to undergo a TB test” to the IND together with your application, you must actually undergo a TB test within three months after having received your residence permit.
A list of nationalities that are exempt from having to take a TB can be found at this link. If required to take the test, you should contact your local Municipal Health Services, GGD, to make the appointment. The test consists of a chest X-ray or, in some instances, a skin test.
You should bring your passport and completed form “TB test referral form” with you to the appointment. Tests by a Municipal Health Service (GGD) are not for free and you will be charged. In some cases, your health insurance will cover the costs. Contact your health insurer for more information or check your policy.
More information about TB and the screening can be found in this booklet by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport.
