    These apply to first residence permits, renewals, and change in residence permits.

    Municipal registration (BSN) for all nationalities

    These apply to the following municipalities: Assen, Eemsdelta, Emmen, Groningen, Heerenveen, Het Hogeland, Leeuwarden, Midden-Groningen, Noordenveld, Smallingerland, and Súdwest-Fryslân.

    We serve the following client groups and their family members:

    • Non-EU/EEA/Swiss employees
      Residence permits: Highly Skilled Migrant; Researcher; Intra-Corporate Transferee; EU Blue Card
    • Non-EU/EEA/Swiss graduates
      Residence permit: Orientation Year
    • Non-EU/EEA/Swiss entrepreneurs
      Residence permits: Start-up; Self-employed
    • EU/EEA/Swiss employees
      Residence permits: not applicable
    • Non-EU/EEA/Swiss Bachelor’s and Master’s students
      Residence permit: Study*

    * Please note: This is only applicable for students enrolled in one of the following universities: University of Groningen, Hanze University of Applied Sciences, NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences, Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences and this client group can only schedule an appointment for biometrics.

    When and where do Formalities appointments take place?

    Appointments take place at the IWCN on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the year, and also on some Wednesdays in September, October and November. Address: Gedempte Zuiderdiep 98, GRONINGEN).

    Is there anything else that is important for us to know?
    Usually, we need at least a week to prepare for Municipal appointments. Municipality appointments take place on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, and on the following Wednesday afternoons: 17 & 24 September; 1 & 8 October; 5 & 12 November. IND appointments take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and on every Wednesday between 3 September and 12 November.
