After hours and emergency healthcare

For all medical and other emergencies: call 112. You will be connected to the police, the fire brigade, or the ambulance service.

If the situation is not life threatening, call your family doctor or the after-hours doctors’ service for your province (below) before calling 112.

For urgent medical assistance during off-hours (after 17:00 hrs and before 8:00 hrs, at the weekend or on holidays), call the provincial after-hours doctor service:

• Groningen: Doktersdienst Groningen 0900 – 9229
• Friesland: Dokterswacht Friesland 0900 – 112 7 112
• Drenthe: Centrale Huisartsendienst Drenthe 0900 – 112 0 112

Almost all hospitals (ziekenhuizen) have emergency room treatment. Look for the “Eerste Hulp” sign if you go directly to the hospital.
