Sending Money Overseas

While living Northern Netherlands, you may want to send money overseas to help your family with living expenses or when purchasing something from a local vendor in your home country. 

There are a few ways that you can send money overseas from the (Northern) Netherlands:

1) Online transfer

This is possible using third-party services such as Wise, PayPal, and Western Union. Most banks in the Netherlands also accept connections to online transfer services. One bonus to this approach is that the exchange rate and transfer fees are usually rather low.

Please note: some countries have a limitation to online transfers. Always check with the bank in your home country to confirm they can accept money transfers from online transfer services.

2) Bank transfer

A bank transfer is also an option if you do not want to send your money online (or the bank in your home country does not accept transfers from online services). Exchange rates and service fees are often higher than the online options, so check with your bank in the Netherlands for more details.
