Real Estate and Relocation Agents

There are several professional real estate agent associations in the Netherlands:

• NVM (4,100 members)
• VBO Makelaar (1,100 members)
• Vastgoed Pro (700 members)

If you are looking for a home, Funda (in Dutch and English) lists all of properties for rent and for sale by NVM, VBO and Vastgoed Pro.

There are other estate agents with individual websites whose listings may not always be listed on Funda. It’s free to set up a Funda account, and doing so will make sure that you receive the newest listings.

VBO also operates its own website (only in Dutch).

Relocation Agents

You can either hire a relocation agent directly, or you can use one that has a  contract with your employer in the Netherlands. Relocation agents use their expertise to make your move easier.

Relocation agent services

Relocation agent services may include:

• Arranging the move and importing your household goods and vehicle;
• Assistance with forms and processes that allow you to legally work and live in the Netherlands;
• Communicating with housing agents, arranging appointments, and reviewing documents;
• Setting up utilities and other home necessities;
• Helping you with finding schools and other educational opportunities;
• Acquainting you with the local area;
• Connecting you to other expats and social organizations;
• Helping find work opportunities for your partner.

Most relocation agents speak English, and additional language support is often available.
