Day Trip to Assen

Have you always wanted to explore the rest of the North but don’t know where to start? We know where to start: Assen! Let’s explore Drenthe’s beautiful capital city together during our next Day Trip outing!

Many of us pass through Assen by train when traveling elsewhere, but have you ever taken the time to actually go out and explore the city? We think it’s time to put Assen on the map again. With its recently beautifully renovated train and bus station as our starting point, we will explore the city together on foot first and we’ll discover what Assen has to offer. Around noon, we’ll have lunch at one of the cafés or restaurants on the south side of the canal (Vaart ZZ). After lunch, we’ll make our way to the renowned Drents Museum, which recently launched a special exhibition about the life of famous Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh during his time in Drenthe.

What our day will look like:

TBD – Meet-up in Groningen
11:00 – Meet-up At Toko Kiki (Assen Station)
11:15 –  City walk
12:15 – Lunch time
13:15 –  Drents Museum
15:00 – Return To Groningen

Costs for the following are not included:

• Public transport costs (train ticket)
• Lunch: your own food and drinks
• Entry to Drents Museum (Adult tickets are €15.00, even with the Museum Card for special exhibition)
• Potential souvenirs
