Celebrating Our Volunteers
The 5th of December marks the International Day of the Volunteer and the Netherlands celebrates it on the 7th of December. This is the perfect opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate our wonderful volunteers.
The Essence of the IWCN
At the IWCN, we host over 400 events annually, and none of this would be possible without the support of our volunteers. We are fortunate to work with more than 40 volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to helping internationals navigate life in the North of the Netherlands.
From assisting with orientation sessions and providing language support to organizing cultural events, our volunteers take on many roles. Each task, whether big or small, plays a vital part in ensuring our activities run smoothly and that those we serve have positive experiences.
Why Do Our Volunteers Do What They Do?
Last year, during the Day of the Volunteer, we reached out to some of our volunteers to learn why they chose to contribute their time to our events. They also shared memorable moments and offered advice for anyone considering volunteering.

“Volunteers at IWCN are the soul of our events! Thanks to them we can offer wonderful activities, and together we make an important collaboration in which they have also a platform to share what they like to do, serve the community, gain experience and build connections. We are very grateful for all the volunteers who have been with us and have passed through IWCN. Happy Day of the Volunteer!” – Erika Pacheco Castano, IWCN Events Coordinator
