Intra-Corporate Transferee

Intra-Corporate Transferees (ICTs) permits are for workers at companies established outside the EU who will be transferred to a Dutch branch. ICTs need a residence permit in order to make this transfer.

ICTs can also be transferred to a branch of this company within another EU Member State, which has implemented Directive 2014/66/EU (Denmark and Ireland do not participate). This is in keeping with the intra EU-mobility framework and subject to certain conditions.

The employer of the ICT must apply for a Single Permit. A Single Permit entitles foreign nationals to stay and work in the Netherlands. The Single Permit combines the residence permit and the TWV.

The employer only needs to apply to the IND for one permit. The IND will consult with the Netherlands Employees Insurance Agency (UWV) to assess the request based on the criteria of the Foreign Nationals Employment Act (Wav). The IND will decide on the permit request based on the UWV’s recommendation.

If the decision is positive and the Single Permit is issued, the IND will inform the employer.

The employer can choose to become a recognised sponsor. This is not obligatory, but recognition as a sponsor has a number of advantages.
