Have you (just) started learning Dutch? Would you like a chance to practice your conversation skills with other beginners? IWCN has regular Dutch conversation groups in Groningen and Leeuwarden for all levels: Let’s Talk Dutch!

Practicing your newfound Dutch skills can be tough in the Netherlands because everyone just starts talking to you in English. It’s thanks to the Netherlands’ status as the nation with the highest level of English fluency as a second language in the world, so most Dutch people don’t bat an eye and jump straight into English if they detect a foreign accent or someone stumbles over a word in Dutch.

Even though it’s meant to be helpful, the tendency to switch to English can actually keep internationals from being able to really participate in Dutch society.

IWCN knows how important it is to have a chance to practice your Dutch skills, which is why we have weekly conversation group meet ups for Dutch learners in the North at all skill levels!

Let’s Talk Dutch in Groningen is sponsored by The Groningen Alliance.

Find the upcoming Dutch practice groups in your area on our events calendar!
