Changes are coming to IWCN!

Posted on: September 7, 2022

We have some exciting news here at the IWCN, we are going to be joining forces with Connect International and City Central to form one organization! What this means, is that we will have a lot more exciting things to offer to the international community here in the north of The Netherlands!

If you’re not familiar with them, here’s some more info about our new partners:

Connect International has been providing for the social and community needs of internationals in the northern provinces of Groningen, Drenthe and Friesland for decades, and IWCN, which handles the legalities of moving and getting settled in the region, just celebrated their 7th anniversary. Be sure to check out Connect International North on Facebook or check out their Instagram under the new username of @connect.iwcn for social events, tips and other interesting things about life in the North of The Netherlands.

City Central helps internationals (mainly students) get to know and to integrate into life in Groningen, by sharing interesting local knowledge about the area and social activities happening. The hold events aimed at familiarizing newcomers with the city/area such as Welcome Walks around the city neighborhoods and FietsFriend cycling excursions to the nearby countryside. In coming together with IWCN, City Central will be able to expand their services to cover all 3 northern provinces in the future! City Central also have a new Instagram username, you can follow them @citycentral.iwcn to find out more about their activities and the city of Groningen.

IWCN will still provide all the services that we currently do, as will the two organizations that we are joining with. The main change that is happening is is that Connect International and City Central will soon be operating under the name International Welcome Center North (IWCN) too.

Our goal in this collaboration is to make it easier for newcomers in the northern Netherlands to find the one-stop-shop for all of their personal, professional and social needs.

No matter what other changes may come along, one thing will remain the same: we’ll be here to provide international residents with all of the guidance, social connections, and support they want and deserve.

Stay tuned for more information regarding the changes that are coming to IWCN and our partner organizations!
