Health screening

There are several nationwide health screening programs.

One program screens women aged 30-60 for cervical cancer once every five years.

Screening for breast cancer occurs every 2 years for women aged 50-75.

Screening for other cancers is not routine in the Netherlands. However, if you are in a high-risk group you will be monitored and screened regularly. You should discuss this with your family doctor who will refer you to a specialist, if necessary.

There are private medical centers where you can have screening and testing done but you need to be aware that these are private and medical insurance companies do not typically cover these costs.
