October 3, 2022

Finding a rental home can be challenging, especially in a different country from your own. How does the process work and where to you start your search? During the webinar we, together with our service partners, Expat rentals and Frently, will explain the way the Dutch rental market works, where and what to look for and your rights as a tenant once you’ve found your home.

Renting accommodation in The Netherlands comes with its own quirks and understanding the complicated rules can be difficult. To help you find your way in the housing market we offer this free webinar during which we will cover the following topics:

  • Where to look for rentals
  • Types of properties
  • What other fees are included (deposit, service fees, utility fees ect)
  • Contents of tenancy contracts
  • Tenants rights and obligations
  • What do to when you have problems with your landlord

The duration of the presentations is approximately 45 minutes after which there is time for your questions.

It formally opened in 2010, and has thousands of successful cases under its belt and about 1,000 pending cases at any given time. Aside from helping to bring down excessively high rent fees, the bureau can also help with wrongly-charged agency fees (bemiddelingskosten, which are illegal to charge if the realtor did not find the room for the tenant). While there are other agencies that work on a national basis, the bureau is still fairly unique in Groningen.
