Housing

Furnishings

There are three options when a house or apartment is described:

Fully furnished (gemeubileerd): the house may have everything from pots and pans to a dishwasher. It is recommended to ask for an inventory list.
Partly or soft-furnished (gestoffeerd): there will usually be flooring, window coverings, ceiling lights and/or major kitchen appliances.
Unfurnished or bare (kaal): this means no flooring, window coverings, light fixtures, etc.

If you need furniture temporarily, you can often rent it.

There are also thrift shops (kringloopwinkels, in Dutch) with good used furniture and household goods, such as Mamamini.
